Overledger is not a blockchain. It is the gateway layer — TCP/IP for ledgers and legacy systems. Drag the live Earth, click a city for a dossier, ask Grok for the paper. GBTD is a tokenised-deposit pilot, not a CBDC.

UK Finance selected Quant as technology partner for live tokenised sterling deposits with six banks.

CBDC
Did you know tokenised sterling deposits are not a digital pound?
A CBDC is a liability of the central bank. GBTD tokens are liabilities of Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, Nationwide and Santander. Quant was selected to provide the programmable-money infrastructure — Overledger and PayScript — not to issue the money. The future-of-money move is making commercial-bank money programmable without pretending it is central-bank money.

Did you know HTTP 402 has been reserved since 1997?
‘Payment Required’ sat unused in the web stack for a generation. x402, hosted at the Linux Foundation, revives it so software can pay software. Quant’s published claim is that Fusion Layer 2.5 is x402-ready from day one, and that the missing piece is settling those agent payments in tokenised bank money rather than only in unregulated tokens.

Did you know Overledger is not a twelfth blockchain?
The 2018 whitepaper’s whole point is single-ledger dependency. Overledger maps a request onto Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, Corda, a bank core, or all of them. If the future of money is many ledgers and many rails, the scarce resource is a gateway OS, not another validator set.

Did you know Overledger’s category has an ACM paper attached?
Belchior, Riley, Hardjono, Vasconcelos and Correia, 2023, ACM Distributed Ledger Technologies: ‘Do You Need a Distributed Ledger Technology Interoperability Solution?’ Modes (data, asset transfer, asset exchange) × infrastructure (nodes, proxies, gateways). Quant’s product claim sits in the gateway cell. Read that before the homepage.
